Laika Club Norway is an independent club for laikas and their owners in Norway, but we also have members in both Sweden and Finland.
We aim to re-establish the laika breeds as allround hunting dogs, after 30 years of beeing considered a new elkhound breed. Naturally these dogs have moose as one of their main hunting objects, but they are so versatile and capable of hunting so much more.
Together with Russian experts on the laikabreeds and field trials, we have created trials perfectly adapted to these dogs, and has changed the breeding strategy as of March 31st 2008, to where all dogs used for breeding, has to have obtained a diploma.
Bloodtracking tests, tests on bear behind a fence and leash hunting, are not approved.
Our field trials contain an additional 8 species of animals and we fully support the existing field trials on moose, wild boar and capercallie.
